Jan 21, 2010, Who to Feed First

My adult dog Max has been so sick. He has aspiration pneumonia in both lungs. It's a long story but the most important thing is he's getting better.

Dec 8, 2009, Daizy is Almost 1 !!!

We can't believe Daizy is about to be a 1 year old!! It just seems like yesterday that she came into our home.

The girl has really grown to be a very beautiful and well-behaved Golden. We just had a doggy party for her. It was a family reunion for her since her doggy mommy and brother came to wish her a Happy Birthday. They all enjoyed home-baked peanut butter cake and goodies.

It was so much fun to see all of them romping around in the backyard. Some cute pictures of the event are upcoming soon!

Oct 16, 2009, Maggie Mae

Maggie left us suddenly May 15, 2008. As she was as loving and faithful as Goldens can be, it was VERY difficult to deal with her leaving us. My wife,

Sep 23, 2009, Daizy earned her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate!!

We are sooooo proud of our Daizy! She passed her CGC test today, which is administered by the American Kennel Club. I will soon write some more information about this test, but basically, it is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. It is a 10 part test, and generally dogs pass it at a much older age. By getting this certificate awarded at only 9 months, Daizy has really done us proud!

Aug 25, 2009, A trip down memory lane

Today, I decided to take a trip down memory lane, and write a bit about Aisha. There are innumerable amazing things about her that I want to share with you, and I will do so intermittently.

Aisha took to a new level an innate understanding of her humans. I always used to say that she was beyond being well-trained... I didn't even have to say a command... I just had to think it. She truly was a mind-reader, and could sense what I wanted from her. More on this later...

Aug 15, 2009, How Fast She is Growing Up!

Daizy just turned 8 months old a couple of days ago, and while she is still totally a puppy at heart, she has grown quite big in size. I came across this picture of Daizy from not so long ago, sleeping on my son's pillow, and she looked so cute and little that I just had to put it on here. How fast my little puppy is growing up!

Aug 9, 2009, Looking Through the Peephole

Being a puppy must be great fun. Not only are you totally the cutest thing to walk the planet, but you are so young that everything is new and amazing to you. Today Daizy went to my sister's house and discovered the peephole on the front door (our door does not have one). She found it so fascinating that she leapt up and tried to reach it. There she stood--almost fully vertical trying to look outside from the peephole!

Aug 4, 2009, Daizy talks

Truly guys, Daizy talks. Ok, she tries. She squeals and whimpers and emanates all kinds of sounds (which I am at a loss of words to describe), and generally is the most "talky" dog I have come across. She really has a lot to say, and it's my limitation that I can't follow all of it!

Aug 1, 2009, On the Swing Together

One of the things I love most about Daizy is her desire to be near me and my husband all the time. Tonight we were seated on our outdoor swing in the backyard and Daizy, true to form, wanted a space on the swing. My husband called her up, she hesitated for a moment and then decided it looked inviting. She leapt up with 2 paws onto the swing, but made sure to keep both her hind legs on the ground. There we sat swinging away, my husband and I, and our little Daizy half-perched between us!

Jul 27, 2009, Peaches, anyone?

Daizy has developed a tremendous fondness for peaches. We have a peach-tree in our backyard, with a lot of low-hanging fruit. Daizy has discovered this tree, and has grabbed and eaten pretty much all the peaches she could reach easily.

Initially, I was really worried that she would get an upset stomach, or, worse yet, get in trouble with eating the pit. But my worries have been put to rest. Daizy first carefully targets the peach she want, positions herself correctly near the tree, and then makes several well-planned leaps until she gets the peach. Then it is playtime! The peach gets rolled around and leapt upon. Then it gets chomped up, and Daizy then proceeds to neatly spit out the pit! I am going to try and capture this all on video and put it up here.
