Golden Retriever Dogs and Me -- A Tale of Total Conversion

Golden Retriever, dog at beach, Golden Retriever at beach, dog in sand

The magic of Golden Retriever dogs has converted many people into ardent dog fans.

I am sure you know many “dog people” — those people that go googly over all dogs they see, those that cannot resist Golden Retriever, Golden Retriever in park, dog in park, cute dog, smart dog baby-talk with dogs, those that go weak in the knees at those great big puppy-dog eyes — in fact, my guess is that you ARE one of those “dog people.”

Let me tell you that I was NOT that type of person.

I did not grow up knowing what a dog can add to a person's life.

I grew up in a dog-less house (one filled with an abundance of human love but lacking in any canine affection). Although I was not scared of dogs, they never held any fascination for me. That was until I met my wife -- she is an unabashed dog fan.

She did not grow up with a Golden Retriever but with a small breed (a mix between a pomeranian and a small breed from Bhutan—yes Bhutan!). Through this wonderful dog, she experienced the unconditional love only dogs can give .

Young Golden Retriever, Golden Retriever, Golden Retriever outside, dog, cute dog One of the few conditions that my wife had before we tied the knot was that I would be open to getting a dog. And I was — I was definitely not against them. But little did I know about the wonders of having a dog and in particular the magic of this fantastic breed! After having our two beautiful Golden Retriever dogs - Aisha and Daizy - I myself have become a die-hard “dog person.”

Not everyone who loves dogs was born loving (or even knowing) dogs. If you know people that are neutral about dogs, a Golden Retriever is a great breed that can help convert them to full-on dog lovers.
