Home Cooked Dog Food

Home cooked dog food can be fun to make and delicious for your dog's palate. It need not take much time out of your busy schedule.

I find that I can usually prepare these recipes in less than 15 minutes. Usually I make several servings to refrigerate and store for later use (See some of the best storage containers here ).

Remember not to use foods that have been sitting in the fridge for too many days. Just like us, your dog will appreciate fresh food. It will also help keep her healthier. Here is a recipe to try:

    Paw-Licking-Good Cookies

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 8 oz carob chips
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp baking powder

Preheat oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit. Combine wheat flour, white flour, and baking powder. Add carob chips. Mash the ripe banana and mix it in. Finally, add the milk slowly and knead to get to the appropriate consistency dough. (You may need to use a little less or little more milk.) Spoon out small batches of dough onto an aluminum foil, about two inches apart. Bake in the pre-heated oven for approximately 20 minutes.
