How to Train Your Dogs to SitIt is important to learn how to train your dogs to do several basic commands. One such command is "Sit." Here is an important dog training obedience tip--Be Patient. Repetition and consistency are key. Remember that Goldens are very intelligent and love to please their "parents." Also, they are often VERY food motivated. All of these factors work heavily in the trainer's favor. In this video, the expert shows the best way to train your dog to sit. Note how she gets his attention at the beginning (see Name Recognition ). To get your Golden to sit, place the hand with the treat near his nose. Say "Sit" and move the hand steadily in an upward-forward motion (i.e. moving your hand to the position above where the top of his head initially was). He will instinctively follow the treat and this motion will make him sit. Right when he sits, say the command again and praise him.
