KC, the greatest companion a couple can have.

KC was born Aug. 19, 2009. We knew we had something special when he sat quietly on Jean's lap for the 3hr. ride home and just looked out the window!
After 2 days, and only one accident he peed on the floor, he was house broken perfectly. We are seniors, so were able to spend a lot of time with him.
His gift to us was a new lease on life. He insisted on walks twice a day, making me lose the weight i needed to lose, lol. When I introduced him to the leash free park, he excelled in retrieving the ball and we now spend 2 hours a day there. Never have I seen a more sociable animal than my KC. He loves everybody, but is partial to small children. When they come on the scene, he crawls to them and rolls over to have his belly rubbed. I find that quite amazing as he weighs in at 101 lbs but he is so gentle with kids. At our trailer, and the boat is at the dock, you never go on the boat unless KC is on it too!
When I raised German Shepherds years ago, basic obedience training was given using positive reinforcement and sharp commands. With KC, I just talk to him and he understands almost immediately what I need him to do. The only correction word I ever have to use is HEY, spoken quietly. His head immediately turns to me and he stops what he is doing.
To say he is a super dog is an understatement (but I guess I am a little biased lol!]. Probably the only negative is the generous amount of fur he deposits around the house twice a year, even with daily brushings, but what he brings to us in love, companionship, and loyalty, far out shines that minor flaw.
When we introduced a 6mo. old tabby to the family, he just took it in stride and now they play together constantly.
I would recommend a Golden to anyone who worries about if their dog will hurt the family - Goldens just don't have any meanness in them. They are a gracious, respectful, loyal, and loving pet!
