Recipes For Homemade Dog Foods

Recipes for homemade dog foods can help you make the most nutritious and tasty meals for your dog.

I have found several recipes that my dogs have enjoyed and they are natural substitutes to the commercial dog foods available.

Remember that when you prepare homemade dog food, try to vary the recipes so that your dog gets many different types of minerals and nutrients. Also, it is important that at the next visit, you ask your vet about your dog's particular nutritional requirements. Dogs' nutritional needs change for a variety of reason—breed type, specific health issues, life stage—and it is best to confirm your dietary choices with your veterinarian. Check out this recipe:

    Doggy Mixed Delight

  • 1 cup canned, drained salmon or tuna (can use fresh also but make sure to cut it into small pieces and cook it properly)
  • ½ cup cooked rice (brown rice has more nutritional value)
  • ½ cup boiled mixed vegetables (choose from carrots, green beans, peas, kidney beans, broccoli, etc., but make sure to cut it into very small pieces so there is no choking hazard)
  • 4 tbsp chicken broth (unsalted is best)
  • 3 tbsp wheat germ
  • 1 cup milk
