Training a Golden Retriever How To Recognize His Name

This may seem trivial but in fact, it is very important. Your new puppy is just that--NEW (new to you, new to your house, new to your rules--he's pretty new to the whole world!).
He will not have the slightest clue what you are saying when you call him by the name you have chosen for him (see

). He does not know this name and will not initially respond to it.
So before you go about training basic obedience, you have to get his attention. You have to get him to understand that he needs to look at you and listen to you when you call his name. That is precisely what this video demonstrates.
